Domaine Patrick Javillier is located in the village of Meursault. The Javillier family has its roots in Meursault and vineyards for centuries. However it wasn’t until shortly after the Second World War when Patrick’s father Raymond took the helm that the family started to heavily invest in the acquisition of vineyard land in the area. Patrick followed suite and in 1973 received his Diplôme National d’oenologie from the University of Burgundy in Dijon. Patrick vinified his first wine in 1974 and the family business grew to become one of the well-respected names in Meursault.
Currently, the vineyards now comprised 10 hectares, stretched over 14 separate appellations. However, the core of Domaine Javillier will always be in Meursault, where it has six different plots of village-level vineyard. Patrick vinifies each parcel separately and then ages the wines in barrel as appropriate, before assembling the final blend or cuvé e. The result is impeccable quality, with modest pricing given how highly rated his vineyards and wines are.
