Dominique Gallois is a tiny estate (3.76 ha) in Gevrey-Chambertin, although the high quality of its Village wine belies its humble level and offers exceptional value. At the turn of the 20th Century, the estate comprised parcels of vines that stretched down to Volnay, but was split up between several families. Charlotte Gallois inherited around 2.5 hectares of vines in Gevrey-Chambertin, which her son Jean Gallois ran until 1989. Dominique Gallois took over the domaine from his father in 1989, and in Burgundian terms is still considered a relative newcomer.

However, Dominique Gallois immediately gained the respect of his peers by winning the top billing in a regional tasting, and his wines have gone from strength to strength since then. Today, the four hectares of vineyard include 2.2 hectares of village Gevrey-Chambertin, one hectare of Premier Cru La Combe aux Moines, Petits Cazetiers, Les Goulots and 0.3 hectares of Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin. The Gevrey-Chambertin is sourced largely from old vines (the oldest date back to 1953) across several different parcels.
