Head up north from highway No. 74, there it is the Vosne-Romanée, and there is a small domaine, Fabrice Martin. Right on its right next door, is the home of legendary Henri Jayer. The small estate used to be known as Martin-Noblet (uncle of Bernard Noblet , the cellar master of DRC), but has changed its name since 2000 when Fabrice Martin took over the vines of his father.
Fabrice started a serious move toward domaine bottling in 2000. There is total de-stemming and a short cold-soaking, but only a minimum of new wood, as he prefers to promote the flavours of the fruit.
Owned 3.5 ha of land, Fabrice is producing approximately 4,000 bottles annually, including Vosne-Romané and Bourgogne. He owns neither Grand Cru nor Premier Cru, yet his village wines are very remarkable. Especially the Vosne-Romanée wines: a medium-weight, elegant, stylish example. Precisely it should taste.
